Credit and identity theft have become pandemic in our modern society. The criminals always seem to find new ways of thieving and deceiving. Please join two of Hillsborough’s finest and learn the latest trends and threats relating to identity theft. Learn to protect yourself and your clients!

Nelson CortewayCorteway_2 has been a Police Officer since 1996 and is currently a Sergeant with the Hillsborough Police Department. During his tenure as an Inspector in the Investigations Bureau, Nelson earned a well-deserved reputation throughout the county as an excellent identity theft/credit card fraud detective, solving many cases in Hillsborough as well as joint cases involving multiple jurisdictions.  Corteway earned his bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of the Pacific in 1996, followed by a Master's Degree in Public Administration from Notre Dame de Namur University in 2002.  Nelson is currently a Watch Commander and oversees the emergency notification systems, social media feeds, and is Hillsborough's liaison to the San Mateo County Office of Emergency Services.

Gould_3Peter Gould has been a Police Officer since 2000 and is currently a Police Inspector with the Hillsborough Police Department. He was previously with the Pacifica Police department for 5 years and served on an FBI high tech computer task force.  While on the task force, he investigated large scale tech and financial crimes and conducted computer forensic examinations. Prior to becoming a peace officer, Peter worked in the computer publishing industry for over 12 years.
