President's Message

Dear Fellow Member:

On behalf of the officers and board of directors of PEPC consisting of me as President, Vice President - Lori Palmatier, Secretary - Stephen Ink, Treasurer - Jim Rodriguez, board members: Bob Caplan; Cathleen Colgan; Julius Aires; Charles Dombrowski; Kirk Dryden, CLU, ChFC, Cynthia Lemus, Quynh Tran, Michael Schmitz, and immediate past president, Rick Gross, we all look forward to seeing you at the upcoming meetings.

Our meetings will continue to take place at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, 1221 Chess Drive, Foster City, CA, but we have moved the meeting date to the first Wednesday of each month.  Mark your calendar - our first meeting is Wednesday, September 7th.  Please note our new meeting date in December and that we will meet in March and not April.

The board met twice this summer to finalize plans and made several innovations for the coming year, including: an interesting array of accomplished speakers, topics and activities for our eight regular meetings, enhanced networking and a new Yahoo Groups listserv.  Please review the attached document for a review of the exciting schedule for 2011-2012 as well as a reminder of the many benefits you enjoy as a PEPC member.

Over the years, our members have told us that one of the primary reasons for attending meetings is to network with other professionals.  With this in mind, the board has added three welcome receptions for 2011-2012: the first one will be in September, the second will be in December and the third and final one at our last meeting in May.  A special thank you to Our Family Business Office (OFBO), American Trust and Borel Private Bank & Trust Company for hosting these receptions!  Back by popular demand, we will once again hold our special speed networking exercise at our meeting on October 5.  Please join us promptly at 5:00 p.m. for this exciting opportunity to present yourself and your firm's expertise using your one-minute elevator speech (if you do not have one, now is the time to prepare it).  Trade funny stories and anecdotes with people you have not met before!  Be sure to be present for this new and exciting approach to networking!  Dina Jan Artzt and Bob Caplan will moderate this session and we look forward to seeing you there.  Details will be included in the email notification of this meeting.

In addition, I wanted to thank our wine sponsors for their generosity that affords us the opportunity to serve wine at the monthly meetings with our dinner; Carr McClellan, Bernstein Global Wealth Management, Bay Laurel Law Group, SGC Financial and Edward Jones (Christopher Devcich).

I also want to welcome Jim Heitzig back as our executive director.  Be sure to look for his emails, which will notify you of upcoming meetings and serve as the primary means by which we communicate news and important notices with you.  Each email notice of an upcoming meeting will include a link to 123 Signup where you can register for the meeting and pay your meeting fee.

Please also visit our website at www.peninsulaestateplanningcouncil.org where you will find our membership directory and other useful information.  In order to keep your contact information and our listing of members in good standing, current and up to date; we request that you submit your renewal notice and dues as soon as possible, but no later than September 7, the date of our first meeting.  After that date, the directory will only consist of members who are in good standing.  In addition, you will qualify for an EARLY BIRD DISCOUNT if you renew your membership prior to or during our first meeting.

Our first meeting, on Wednesday, September 7, will feature renowned speaker, James Gnefkow. In his presentation entitled “Retirementology, Rethinking the American Dream in a New Economy”, he will discuss the new environment surrounding retirement planning.  The complete meeting notice, with details about the program and RSVP instructions, is attached. As a reminder, we will have a welcome reception at 5:00 pm, look forward to seeing you there.

Sincerely,

Mark Edward Jamison
President
